Change of Staff: Dr. Mark C. Hilgard becomes the new President of the American-German Business Club Frankfurt Rhein-Main.
FRANKFURT AM MAIN, 07.02.2019 – Effective immediately, Dr. Mark C. Hilgard will assume the office of President of the American-German Business Club (AGBC). On 1 February 2019, the Board of Directors unanimously elected Dr. Hilgard as President. He succeeds Dr. Thomas Büttner, who has held the office on an interim basis since the middle of last year. Dr. Büttner is Managing Director of Gemini PharmChem GmbH in Mannheim. Dr. Büttner, who would like to devote himself more to new professional challenges in the future, will remain associated with the AGBC as Senior Advisor.
Dr. Mark C. Hilgard, a highly renowned lawyer, joins the American-German Business Club as its head. The American-German Business Club is an internationally engaged, private and non-profit association, which was founded in 1964 by American entrepreneurs in Bonn. Today the club has ten locations in Germany and one in the USA.
Dr. Hilgard was a partner in an internationally renowned commercial law firm for more than 34 years. The litigation and arbitration expert founded his own law firm in Frankfurt at the beginning of 2019. He wants to concentrate on arbitration proceedings and become more active as an arbitrator in the future.
During his career, Dr. Hilgard gained extensive experience in dealing with US clients. He was also a member of the Board of Directors for many years, Chairman of the Corporate and Business Law Committee, and Chairman of the Rhine-Main Chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany (AmCham). In addition, Dr. Hilgard is VP of the Wirtschaftsclub Rhein-Main and President of the Foundation of Attorneys in Hesse.

I am particularly pleased considering the current challenges in the transatlantic relations. Due to my new professional life outside Frankfurt, I am glad that Dr. Hilgard is taking over from me,” said Dr. Thomas Büttner.
The Association of American-German Business Clubs e.V. is an international, private and non-profit association founded in 1964 in Bonn by American entrepreneurs. Today the Association has ten locations in Germany and one in the USA. Well over 700 members from diverse industries and professions are organized through the 10 Regional Chapters. Individual members come from the fields of telecommunications, management consulting, pharma, chemistry, culture, media, finance and law. The Club’s mission is to strengthen relationships among American and German business people and individuals through personal networking in an informal setting.
